Nesbitt, Mississippi (The Hollywood Times) 10/01/2024
Almost 2 years from his passing October 28, 2022 at the age of 87, The Lewis Ranch Experience located in Nesbitt, Mississippi, is now open for tours. It was where the “Whole Lotta Shankin Goin On Birthday” was held.
Family, friends and fans experienced a tour of the iconic home where Jerry Lee Lewis resided for over 40 years. Angel Herendeen was our tour guide explaining about all of Jerry’s remarkable awards which were displayed throughout the home. Some notable awards were Country Music, inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 1986 and his 10 gold records displayed behind the Gold Grand Piano.

The living room retained the TV which was purchased with his first contract from Sun Records. The master bedroom was quite interesting with bullet holes throughout. No, it wasn’t a gangster, no one else but Jerry himself being a little careless. He owned many firearms and each one was a learning experience. The keyboard trim was yellowing because of his pipe smoking. He had a collection of pipes and clocks. Red was his favorite color. His bathroom walls were red and his kitchen sink with Coca-Cola wallpaper.
I was amazed at the outstanding fan art throughout the house. Posters from several concerts with celebrity signings were displayed.
Barbeque dinner was catered out by the piano shaped pool from Jerry’s favorite barbeque restaurant Blues City Cafe located at Beale Street.
Several people spoke after dinner reminded everyone what a good man Jerry was as a person not just as a legend. His cousin Gerald Lewis, Nurse, Body Guard, son Jerry Lee Lewis III and widow Judith Lewis.
Very emotional listening to the song “Pledging My Love” that was first sang to Judith in Norway. Judith said, “I listen to this song every night before bed.” Todd Herendeen proceeded to dance with Judith during this heartfelt moment.
The rain did not stop the concert. Gerald Lewis performed with an umbrella above his head. Lukas Koeninger, The Traveling Piano Man from France enchanted the crowd. Zach Adam’s from Florence Alabama had an amazing performance. He was influenced by Jerry Lee and plays entirely by ear. He played Jerry in a play. Todd Herendeen amazed the crowd with Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, Neil Diamond and Elvis! The duet with his wife Angel was superb! Ending the show with Linda Gail Lewis, younger sister, of Jerry was phenomenal with her piano playing, even with a red boot on the keyboard.
