Beverly Hills, CA (The Hollywood Times) 9/15/24 – I visited the opening of Julien’s highly anticipated “Bold Luxury” auction this week. Its now live, online and set to take place in-person at The Peninsula Beverly Hills’ Magnolia Room on Wednesday, September 24th. The event showcases a stunning collection blending current media culture with classic luxury fashion pieces and celebrity memorabilia.

One of the standout pieces for me was Bad Bunny’s Mordekai-designed Julius Caesar head crown, famously worn on his Playboy cover. Its unique design, how Bad Bunny wore it with attitude make it a bold artifact of modern pop culture.

Another striking piece was a vibrant three-piece suit worn by Anne Hathaway in *The Hustle*—a reflection of chic, playful sophistication.

The auction also includes rare Hermès Birkin handbags, such as the 2023 25 CM Picnic Gold Swift and Jean Paul Gaultier’s 2011 Hermes Kelly Sellier, alongside stunning gowns worn by fashion icons like Issa Rae, Lady Gaga, and Naomi Campbell. Each item represents a unique intersection of timeless elegance and cutting-edge fashion.

A special highlight is the personal curation by legendary designer Bob Mackie, who handpicked a few iconic pieces from his career for “Bob’s Bold Luxury Picks.” Among these is Margot Robbie’s Barbie-inspired black strapless dress, an unforgettable look from Barbie: The World Tour.

The gown worn by Issa Rae, President Barbie, to the Barbie Premier on Los Angels is a standout item. Long, velvet, simple and glamourous, and of course pink.

This auction comes at the perfect time, coinciding with the excitement of Fashion Week Los Angeles, the Emmy Awards, and the upcoming red carpet season. For anyone passionate about fashion or looking to own a piece of style history, this is an event you won’t want to miss.

Here’s a link to register for the auction. I hope to see you there next week!
