Hollywood, CA (The Hollywood Times) 5/22/23 – “There has always been a cultural fascination with the Teletubbies that goes beyond the screen! More than a staple for the preschool set, Teletubbies have brought their wonder-filled world further into the zeitgeist with over-the-top fun moments in pop culture, fashion and cause. Hot off the heels of our appearance at DragCon LA last week, we at WildBrain partnered with World of Wonder to continue the party/festivities with House of Teletubbies, an experiential pop-up celebrating the colorful quartet in the World of Wonder headquarters. House of Teletubbies is a curated showcase of our global partnerships, from retrospective looks at Italian fashion brand Iuter and those viral Dipsy boots from Christian Cowan, and sneak peeks at upcoming collabs with ONCH, The Blonds and Jon Burgerman.
For our fans that aren’t local to the Los Angeles area, we partnered with NTWRK on an exclusive live stream, featuring a first look at the Teletubbies x Adam Bomb collab and a presale for our hoodie collection from A Leading Role. EH-OH! It is Tinky-Winky, Dipsy, Laa Laa and Po in their House of Teletubbies event in Los Angeles! The quartet have arrived in Hollywood for an exclusive 3-day Teletubbies Pop-Up Gallery. We enjoyed a house filled with fashion, art, and wonder, even browsed iconic capsule collections, sample Teletubbies-inspired treats, and hang out with your favorite colorful quartet! Each Teletubby has their own unique personality. Tinky-Winky is the bluish-purple, biggest of the bunch who is the gentlest yet clumsy one. Dipsy is green and follows behind in height. Dipsy is the most stylish yet stubborn of them all. Laa Laa is the second smallest who is yellow, sweet, and bubbly. Lastly, Po is the tiniest of the quartet. A red color and is timid, shy, and soft-spoken.
Teletubbies first came on screen in 1997, created by Anne Wood and Andrew Davenport and instantly became popular with its pre-school audience. The program helped children focus on and imitate sounds, language and interpret non-verbal signals.
The famous quartet have become a hit in popular culture as they have been talked about and made appearances in shows such as The Fairly Odd Parents, Family Guy, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, to name a few. Of course, with all the roaming around and hanging out with the famous colorful group, one can always sit around and have a delicious snack. Of course, what was not on the menu was the infamous Tubby Custard. Rats! Maybe next time.
