HBO’s critically acclaimed series Succession follows the lives of the Roy family, heirs to a global media and entertainment conglomerate known as Waystar Royco, as they squabble for dominance in the wake of their father’s declining health. Awarded both the Golden Globe and Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Drama Series in 2020 and 2022, the four-season show garnered 24 additional Emmy awards, including Outstanding Lead Actor for Jeremy Strong, who plays Kendall Roy. The critically acclaimed series is filmed mostly in New York, where the rival factions of the lead family live in opulent penthouses on either side of Central Park. Kendall Roy’s TV home is a three-level penthouse at the top of the tallest tower north of 72nd Street. The five-bedroom, 5,500-square-foot abode has been listed for sale at $29 million.

Overlooking Central Park, the apartment features a luxe but minimalist contemporary aesthetic, with bright white walls, lots of glass, and gold trim. A stunning spiral staircase connects the three levels, which feature soaring 13’ ceilings. A private, glass-walled elevator offering views of Central Park offers another option for traversing the unique and beautiful space. A total of 3,500 additional square feet of outdoor space include a fabulous rooftop terrace with gas fireplace, outdoor seating, and spectacular city and park views, plus multiple smaller terraces. Carefully chosen design elements include gilded chandeliers and natural brass fixtures. The building was developed and designed by Joe McMillan’s DDG in 2019.

The primary suite features its own loggia terrace, a gas fireplace, and a luxurious bathroom with a rain shower, heated tile floors, and marble counters as well as a spacious dressing room. A spectacular set-up for entertaining, the home features an open floor plan that connects a living room, dining room and great room with a gas fireplace, surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows and access to dramatic set-back terraces. A second living room offers a wet bar. The custom-designed Molteni & C Dada kitchen features a massive island, marble countertops, and a full suite of top-of-the-line Gaggenau appliances. A den offers additional lounging space or room for a home office. The building provides additional amenities, including a fitness studio, basketball court, soccer pitch, playroom, game room, and lounge with a catering kitchen and large dining area, plus a concierge and doorman.

The estate is located on Manhattan’s Upper East Side in the Carnegie Hill neighborhood. Named for Andrew Carnegie’s Fifth Avenue mansion that is now the Cooper Hewitt Smithsonian Design Museum, the region is made up of upscale residential space and several prominent museums, including the world-famous Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Guggenheim Museum. Prized for its “neighborhood feel” and good schools, including some of the most coveted public schools in New York City, it borders Central Park and is only a quick subway or taxi ride from everything Manhattan has to offer. Celebrities who have called the area home include Bette Midler, Katie Couric and Woody Allen.
