In April of 2020, the world-famous Club Skirts Dinah Shore Weekend will be celebrating 30 years of providing a safe space for women to live out loud, be free, and come together to rejoice in our individuality and creative spirits. Marking the 30th anniversary as the largest lesbian event on the planet and the world’s most celebrated queer woman event, this year will be the biggest yet! The Dinah features musical performances, comedy shows, pool parties, evening soirees, celebrity meet and greets, red carpet appearances, DJ battles, fun and games, and so much more.
The official Dinah Shore Weekend only takes place in Palm Springs, California and is famous for picking the next big thing in the music world. Past Dinah performers include Tegan and Sara, Lady Gaga, Lizzo, Katy Perry, Kesha, Bebe Rexha, Daya, Snow Tha Product, Jessie Reyes, Meghan Trainor, Iggy Azalea, Eve, Chaka Khan, Salt ‘N Pepa, and so many more.This year, producer and CEO Mariah Hanson has once again tapped some of the most promising up and coming talent to perform. Friday night’s always epic red carpet event and concert will feature performances from the red hot rapper Saweetie who has been exploding with her recent singles “ICY GIRL” and “My Type”. Saweetie is a rapper, songwriter, actress, and designer who began her musical career releasing short raps on Instagram and in no time was going viral on social media. The music video for her debut single titled “ICY GRL” has been watched over 90 million times and earned her praise from Vibe Magazine, XXL, HipHopDX, and MTV UK as an artist to watch in 2018.
In January 2018, she was named Tidal’s Artist of the Week and one of Pigeons & Planes’ Best New Artists of the Month. During Super Bowl LII in February 2018, she was featured in an ad for Rihanna’s cosmetic company, Fenty Beauty. That month, she signed to Warner Bros. Records in partnership with Artistry Worldwide and her own label, Icy Records.
Her 2019 single “My Type” has gone certified Platinum and peaked at #21 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts. SOPHIA MESSA
Young pop singer-songwriter Sophia Messa is nothing short of a force to be reckoned. The young artist exudes confidence and candor while being one of the most qualified new acts in the game.
With the personality to match, Sophia is a New York native and a first-generation American, born to self-made immigrant parents from Brazil and Russia. Growing up fast in the arms of lower Manhattan, Sophia is a vocal powerhouse.
Citing her Brazilian relatives and their colorful musical taste as influence, Sophia says she’s always had a flare for the dramatic. “Growing up in the city, I didn’t really have a filter. I’m really outgoing, and I like to live,” says Sophia.
During her senior year of high school, she was accepted to The Berklee College of Music. Around this time, her demos found their way to David Massey of Sony Arista and Sophia was signed within 24 hours. Three weeks later, she left Berklee and headed back to New York to launch her career.
Sophia’s debut song “moneydontfixlonely,” was released via Nylon Magazine, and received critical and commercial acclaim. A commentary on how materialistic the world has become, depleted of deep personal connections, “moneydontfixlonely” introduces Sophia’s subtly dark, left-of-center pop sound as she delivers flawless vocals and honest songwriting while cutting through the noise of the masses with sharp precision and distinct style.
